Britain: support for Lebanon

October 04, 2013

Britain has urged the international community to send a clear and unified message to support stability in Lebanon to avoid becoming the next victim of the Syrian conflict, and London has identified three topics for this purpose.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague announced during a speech to the first meeting of the International Support Group for Lebanon, which was held in New York on the margins of a meeting of the General Assembly United Nations his support for the tasks of the team during the difficult period that Lebanon is living nowadays.

Hague said: "Today, we gather because we share an essential interest in supporting the efforts of the government and people of Lebanon to maintain peace which they struggled a lot to get. Our goal is that Lebanon does not become the next victim of the Syrian conflict.
