2000: Conference: “The security of Arab water”
This conference was held in Cairo under the auspices of the Prime Minister Dr. Atef Obeid The axes of the conference has stressed on the following: - The Arabic water in the international law - The Arabic water and the regional security challenges - The Arabic water and the Turkey projects - The Arabic water and the Arabic – Israeli conflicts - The Arabic water and the Arabic strategies economies. - The Arabic water: strategic ambitions The recommendations of the conference have stressed on the refusal to use the water as a pressure paper against the Arabs or to return it into a source of tension in the Middle East. They have demanded the necessity of forming a common Arabic view for the dangers of water crisis and to define the ways to face them, and to consider this from the most important cases in the present and the future of the Arabic world. They have also seen that using the force in the entire water crisis is making the situation more complicated, as well as that it could drag the region to new wars.
